From Paddocks to Value: Measuring the Social Impact of Radical Fields
At Nourish Group, we believe that creativity doesn’t just entertain—it transforms communities. This year, we partnered with Radical Fields to help them understand, measure, and communicate the ripple effect of their Harvest Festival—a one-day celebration of art, culture, and connection in Glenlyon, Victoria.
Our work together included:
Program Logic Development – Mapping how the festival’s resources, activities, and partnerships lead to short, medium, and long-term community benefits.
Defining Social Impact Measures – Identifying indicators that matter most to Radical Fields, from community connection and pride to volunteer engagement and artist growth.
Measuring Impact – Applying the Australian Social Value Bank (ASVB) to quantify outcomes, revealing:
$1.54 million in net social value created
51:1 benefit-cost ratio—meaning every $1 invested returned over $50 in community wellbeing benefit
Significant uplift in participants’ sense of belonging and pride in place
The findings confirmed what people felt on the day—that Radical Fields was more than a festival. It was a catalyst for connection, creativity, and shared identity.
Why this matters:
This is a new and evolving space in the arts—where festivals, cultural organisations, and community groups are going beyond “how many attended” to why it mattered. Measuring social impact helps secure funding, strengthen community support, and guide future programming.
Your turn:
If you’re ready to understand and share the value you create—whether in arts, tourism, or community development—we’d love to help you tell that story.
